Toronto – August 16, 2018 – Party people, mark your calendars: the Carnival returns to Havana on August 17! One of Cuba’s oldest and most revered cultural traditions, the annual Havana Carnival delights both locals and visitors with a week of spectacular parades, colourful costumes, and spirited Salsa dancing. The Carnival is a cherished celebration of all things Cuban, both for inhabitants of Havana and revellers from neighbouring municipalities. Many of the floats and performances pay homage to important moments and figures in Cuba’s history, enshrining the Carnival as a thrilling and dynamic reflection of the island’s rich culture. The carnival will officially kick off the evening of August 17 with the traditional parade of comparsa — singers, dancers, and performers — across Havana’s famous Malecón waterfront.
